Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment Approach:
I form a diagnosis and treatment plan based on a thorough, initial psychiatric and medical evaluation to rule out any concurrent medical, neurological, or hormonal problems that may either cause or exacerbate a psychiatric disorder.
Before recommending treatment, I discuss my diagnosis and various treatment options (which may include psychiatric medication and/or psychotherapy) to help each patient choose the treatment plan with which they feel most comfortable. I also find it useful to involve families and significant others during this process with the patient’s consent.
